"... for the World"
In our sanctuary is a board which commemorates members of the congregation who have been called by God to service overseas since the Second World War. The board reflects our long-standing commitment as a church to World Mission and challenges us to continue to make good on that commitment.
Today Betty Caplin continues to serve the Lord in South Africa as she has done for over 50 years, whilst Peter and Janet Dallman are based in Japan where Peter works as Training & Development Coordinator, and Janet is Pastoral & Spiritual Care Coordinator for OMF missionaries in Japan.
Details of other organisations we support can be found in the partnership section.

Betty Caplin was born in Enfield and began attending WHBC as a young girl. She left for South Africa in 1961 to serve with Dorothea Mission, serving initially in Pretoria and since 1977 in Bergville where she ministered in schools and the local hospital (Emmaus). Today Betty continues to visit a number of different schools (primary and secondary) on a fortnightly rota as well as making weekly visits to Emmaus Hospital. Although she sometimes visits alone, she prefers to work with local Zulu colleagues.
